Although the Automobile Recycling Law excludes from its scope the recycling of end of life motorcycles, four motorcycle makers and twelve importers in Japan have been running their joint recycling scheme since 2004. JARC serves as the coordination office for these motorcycle makers and importers.
Under this voluntary recycling scheme, motorcycle owners are asked to bring their end of life motorcycles and pay a recycling fee to a dealer or a certified collection center. JARC tries to win the understanding of motorcycle owners for an effective running of the voluntary recycling scheme.
